Playing Your Position — EP. 04 | Failure: When the Plan Doesn't Work
What happens when you invest everything into a plan—and it doesn't work?
In Episode 4 of Playing Your Position, Lorion and I explore failure, setbacks, intuition, and the lessons that come from building a business, raising children, and navigating life's most difficult challenges.
I share the story of Major Bloom's original expansion plans in Attleboro, where significant investments, unexpected financial obligations, and an inability to secure funding forced me to reconsider the path forward.
That experience didn't end the vision. It helped redirect it.
We also discuss how fatherhood has changed my relationship with failure, what watching my children experience disappointment through sports has taught me, and why emotional discipline matters when the outcome is beyond your control.
In this episode, we discuss:
The business venture that didn't go according to plan
Losing money while pursuing the original Major Bloom vision
Knowing when to adjust your approach without abandoning your purpose
The role of intuition in difficult decisions
Staying emotionally grounded through legal and personal challenges
Teaching children to learn from losing
Accountability, empathy, and learning from mistakes
Why small wins matter when the bigger goal feels out of reach
One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that you can control your actions and your emotions, but you cannot always control the outcome.
When the plan doesn't work, ask what's missing, what can change, and what you can do next.
Failure is a lesson. Progress is a choice.

EP 03 — Entrepreneurship What Five Years in Business Really Taught Me
Five years in business changes the way you think about entrepreneurship.
In Episode 3 of Playing Your Position, Lorion and I sit down to talk about what five years of building and operating Major Bloom has actually taught me—the wins, mistakes, sacrifices, pressure, leadership challenges, and moments when simply keeping the business alive became the victory.
Starting a business is one thing. Keeping it alive is another.
We talk about what I thought entrepreneurship would look like when I started, what it actually became, managing people, learning from failure, and how my definition of success has changed along the way.
We also get into something entrepreneurs don't talk about enough: what happens when the business needs you at the same time your family needs you?
For me, entrepreneurship has never existed separately from fatherhood, community, or responsibility. Each role requires you to understand the position you're playing—and sometimes recognize when that position needs to change.
Five years in, I'm still learning.
Playing Your Position is coming April 2027.

EP. 02 — Fatherhood: What Does It Mean to Put the Child First?
What does it actually mean to put your child at the center?
In Episode 2 of Playing Your Position, Lorian and I have an honest conversation about fatherhood, parenting, accountability, and the responsibility adults carry when raising children—especially when the family structure changes.
Putting children first is easy to say. Living it can require sacrifice, self-reflection, difficult decisions, and sometimes putting our own emotions aside.
We talk about what I've learned through fatherhood, coaching, co-parenting, and navigating family court—and why I believe children should never feel like loving one parent means betraying the other.
When the child is at the center, every adult has a position to play.
Playing Your Position is coming in April 2027. Subscribe and follow the series as we continue conversations about fatherhood, family, entrepreneurship, failure, resilience, leadership, and what it means to help children stay whole.

EP. 01 — Playing Your Position: Why I Wrote This Book
Playing Your Position started with my experience as a father navigating separation, co-parenting, family court, entrepreneurship, and the responsibility of continuing to show up for my children through it all.
In Episode 1, I sit down with Lorian to talk about why I wrote the book, what the last several years have taught me, and how my personal experience grew into a much larger conversation about fatherhood, family, accountability, and keeping children at the center.
This isn't about fathers versus mothers. It's about recognizing that when a family changes, every adult still has a position to play.
When the child is at the center, every adult has a position to play.
Playing Your Position is coming in April 2027.
